Shane’s is a story as amazing as it is tragic. The man is legendary and always will be, he died doing what he loved, and left behind an epic story and some of the best skiing and basejumping footage ever captured on film.

This is some of the best local Whistler skiing I’ve ever seen. The first line (won’t mention the name here because it’s nsfw) is one of, if not the most, dangerous skiable lines at Whistler; it needs perfect conditions as a slide would be deadly, and is a 100% no-fall zone (any fall could mean death). The rest of the video is mainly cliff drops, some are huge cliffs, some of the biggest that have been done at Whistler.

This pillow zone in the West Kootenays, BC has to be one of the best I’ve ever seen, it looks insanely fun!

The 2012 X Games just wrapped up last night, here’s a compilation of some of the best moments including a tribute to Sarah Burke, the first 100 score ever at the X Games from Shaun White (kinda divided on this one, is halfpipe progression dead? but you gotta hand it to the kid for his determination, he had a black eye from crash on previous run and a sprained ankle), and the first front flip on a snowmobile ever.

This game of ‘In Your Face’ has a snowboarder taking on a skier and trying to find similar tricks, the winner gets to spray the loser with snow.

With the passing of X-Games champion and fellow Canadian Sarah Burke yesterday the freeskiing world lost an icon. She is considered by many to be the first competitive female freeskier, and successfully lobbied the X-Games to include women in freeskiing events on equal standing and equal prize purses. It is also thanks to her that the 2014 Winter Olympics will include freestyle skiing. The skiing community (and Canada) was always hopeful that she would take gold in 2014 at Sochi, but now it is clear that her legacy will stand as something much more important, being an enabler of dreams and trailblazer for other freeskiers and women to compete and do what they love. Sarah died from complications resulting from a crash in the superpipe, and despite the tragic circumstances she will be remembered as a legend who died doing what she loved.
